What is a Foreign Trade Zone?
A foreign-trade zone (aka FTZ) is geographical area where foreign merchandise receives the same Customs treatment as if it were outside the commerce of the United States. Merchandise of foreign origin and of every description may be held in the Zone with being subject to Customs duties and other taxes. Foreign-Trade Zones are established with or near U.S. Ports of Entry and are under the supervision of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Due to low labor and property cost, Spartanburg, South Carolina has become a focal point for some of the world's largest manufactures. Since 2011, we have utilized our Bonded Foreign Trade Zone to enable our tenants to maximize their profits by avoiding unnecessary government fees. The goal of our FTZ operation is to create an environment in which our tenants and partners are better able to achieve their objectives, and since it's activation our FTZ has done just that.
